Removing Broken Bolts
12/26/2005 When I was dismantling my jeep, I noticed that the previous owner had a broken bolt on the master brake cylinder. Rather than removing it, he drilled another hole next to it.
12/26/2005 I didn't have any of these easy outs, so I went and puchased them down at the local hardware store. It was about $10.
12/26/2005 I drilled a smaller hole than the diameter of the broken bolt into the center. The easyout has threads going the opposite way as the bolt. When you turn the easyout counterclockwise, the easyout will dig into the broken bolt until it has enough bite and the bolt starts coming out.

12/26/2005 Broken bolt is easily removed. This bolt was in there pretty good with a little rust, but the easyout broke it pretty easily and in a few moments I was back in business

12/26/2005 Bolt is out and the threads are still useable. That additional hole that the previous owner drilled is a shame (just below it)
